White House posts image of Donald Trump as James Bond in response to 007 auditions announcement

The White House shared a photo of Donald Trump as James Bond on X on Sunday.

Key Points

  • The post came following news of the 007 franchise officially kicking off auditions for the next international man of mystery.

  • The post is the latest in a string of controversial posts from official White House accounts associating Trump with popular IPs that often prompt backlash from those behind the IP.

The White House has selected a new target in its ongoing campaign of IP infiltration:James Bond.

On Saturday, in response to a postannouncingthat auditions have officially kicked off to find the next James Bond, the official White House X accountshared an imagefeaturingDonald Trumpin the style of 007.

Accompanied by a simple caption of "👀," the image depicted Trump in a tuxedo, his left hand tucked under his right arm, which held up a pistol fitted with a silencer. A black-and-white editing effect made his facial features indistinct, but clearly readable down the side of the photo were the words "MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN" — Trump's slogan since his first run for president in 2015.

Also visible at the bottom right corner the image was the official 007 logo, complete with Bond's pistol jutting off the edge of the 7 like a wing.

The post represents the latest in a long-standing, widely criticized tradition of the Trump second-term communications team of editing the president into films, TV series, and other projects in which he did not originally star. Earlier this month, the White House shared an image ofTrump dressed as as the Mandalorianwith Grogu by his side.

This was (at least) the second time the Trump team had edited Trump into theStar Warsuniverse. The first time, when the White House shared an image of the president holding a red lightsaber,Star WarsalumMark Hamill joked, "My comment was: 'Proof positive he's full of Sith.'"

"The search for the next James Bond is underway," Amazon MGM Studiosannounced in a statementshared withEntertainment Weeklyon Thursday. "While we don't plan to comment on specific details during the casting process, we're excited to share more news with 007 fans as soon as the time is right."

There is no indication at present that Trump has any affiliation with the next installment in the James Bond franchise.Entertainment Weeklyhas reached out to Amazon MGM Studios and Eon Productions Ltd., the long-standing producer of James Bond films, for comment.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander wins 2025-26 MVP award

Adding to his NBA mythos, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander added another prestigious trophy to his stacked resume. He was officially named the 2025-26 MVP winner on Sunday. The 27-year-old continues to pencil an all-time legacy in basketball history books.

USA TODAY Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has won the 2025-26 MVP award.

This shouldn't be a shocker. Reading the tea leaves, Gilgeous-Alexander was at the top of the leaderboard for the entire 2025-26 regular season. There were some moments of suspense, but he eventually ran away with the award in the latter half of the year. The other two finalists were Victor Wembanyama and Nikola Jokic.

Gilgeous-Alexander averaged 31.1 points on 55.3% shooting, 6.6 assists and 4.3 rebounds in 68 games this season. TheOklahoma City Thunderhad a league-best 64-18 record. They walked their way to the Western Conference Finals with a solid chance to go back-to-back.

With back-to-back MVP awards, Gilgeous-Alexander joins a very exclusive club filled with current and future Hall-of-Famers. The list includes LeBron James, Jokic, Stephen Curry, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Tim Duncan, Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Moses Malone and Steve Nash. Those dozen names are NBA pantheons.

It's been quite a couple of years for Gilgeous-Alexander. He had an unconventional route to NBA superstardom. But what he might lack in longevity — for now, at least — he makes up for in peak. He's won two straight MVP awards with one championship ring. If he wins another Larry O'Brien trophy, he continues to strengthen his case to be part of the long lineage of all-time guards who define an era.

Over the last four seasons, Gilgeous-Alexander has been a superb-efficient 30-point scoring machine. The only other guy in the same breath as him is Jordan. He broke Chamberlain's legendary record for the longest consecutive 20-point streak. He also captured the NBA's 2025-26 Clutch Player of the Year award.

The Thunder have been an NBA powerhouse over the last three seasons. That's coincided with Gilgeous-Alexander's skyrocket ascension. We're seeing an all-time great's prime play out in real life. Just unreal stuff that adds to OKC's stupidly-rich basketball history despite not even being two decades old.

Sherman Lewis, who won four Super Bowl championships as NFL assistant, dies at 83

Sherman Lewis, who won four Super Bowl championships as an assistant coach, died on Friday at 83 years old. His death was confirmed by Michigan State University, where Lewis was an All-American running back in 1963.

Yahoo Sports

Lewis was the running backs coach for the San Francisco 49ers under head coach Bill Walsh for nine seasons and won Super Bowl titles during the 1984, 1988 and 1989 seasons. He went on to become the offensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers on Mike Holmgren’s staff for eight seasons, winning another championship in 1996.

Despite that success, Lewis was never hired as a head coach in the NFL. He interviewed for several openings and was endorsed for such jobs by Holmgren. At the time Lewis appeared to be a strong candidate for head-coaching positions, the NFL had not yet adopted the Rooney Rule that required teams to interview at least one minority candidate for head-coach openings. That mandate was implemented in 2002.

"We won Super Bowls in San Francisco and one in Green Bay,"Lewis told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in 2015. "And I got to work with some great coaches and players.”

"No question I wished I had the chance to be a head coach,” he continued. “But looking back, I did all I could. I was disappointed, but I'm not going to hang my hat on that. I had a great career and was fortunate to coach in the NFL."

After his tenure in Green Bay, Lewis had two offensive coordinator stints with the Minnesota Vikings (from 2000-01) and Detroit Lions (2003-04). His final NFL coaching job was as an offensive assistant with the Washington Commanders in 2009.

At Michigan State, Lewis rushed for 1,566 yards and 16 touchdowns in three seasons, and was named a team captain. In addition to earning All-American honors in 1963, he finished third in the Heisman Trophy voting to Navy’s Roger Staubach and Georgia Tech’s Billy Lothridge.

Lewis was also an accomplished track and field star for the Spartans, winning Big Ten championships in the long jump and 300-yard dash.

Following his collegiate career in East Lansing, Lewis played two seasons in the Canadian Football League for the Toronto Argonauts and Saskatchewan Roughriders. He also played two seasons for the New York Jets when they were in the AFL.

Before moving on to the NFL, Lewis was an assistant coach for his alma mater for 14 years. He was inducted intothe Michigan State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2001.
