"I've always loved it, but I was too young to be able to sing it truthfully," he explained.

Big payday ahead for RB Kenneth Walker III thanks in part to a soft RB NFL Draft class?

While it's hard to label a Super Bowl MVP landing a lucrative deal in free agency a shocker, there was definitive buzz in the agent and executive ranks that Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III will end up getting a deal that puts him in the top three or four highest-paid at his position, with an annual average value that could reach $13 to $14 million per season.

Yahoo Sports

That's a number solidly north of the $9 to $10 million window that some were predicting prior to the Seahawks' Super Bowl-winning run, and still north of the $12 million average that some agents were slotting him at heading into the combine.

The Seahawks aren't expected to use the franchise tag on Walker before Tuesday's deadline, paving the way for the running back to hit the free-agent market,ESPN's Adam Schefter reported.

Why the change of free agency fortunes for Walker? There are two main reasons.

First, during the week of the scouting combine, New York Jets general manager Darren Mougey was very suggestive that the team would use the franchise tag on Breece Hall if they couldn't get a deal done by the tag deadline. TheJets reportedly followed through on Tuesday, tagging Hall.

That was at least a surprise, taking the best running back aside from Walker out of the free-agent pool.

The second development in Walker's favor was the running back class being generally soft in this draft and disappointing with a lot of players at the position sitting out portions of workouts at the combine. While there were certainly some combine bright spots, Walker entered this week a winner, now being far and away the best free-agent option at his position and still having several years of prime left ahead of him.

Ryan Reynolds, Rob Mac to call Wrexham match as pair celebrate 5 years of club ownership

Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac will celebrate the fifth anniversary of their purchase of the Welsh soccer team by doing live commentary during a match later this month.

Yahoo Sports

Reynolds and Mac, who purchased the then-non-League club in 2021, will call the game on a special broadcast when Wrexham hosts fellow English Football League Championship side Swansea at 4 p.m. ET on March 13. It is expected to provide "behind-the-scenes insight" and "documentary-style insider access" over the course of the match, which will be broadcast on Paramount+ in the U.S.

"As with our decision to take over Wrexham five years ago, we genuinely have no idea how this is going to go, but we will give it our best. Neither of us have called a sporting event of any variety, let alone a sport we basically learned the rules of five years ago,"the pair said in a joint statement.

"Either way, it will be another unpredictable day at the STōK Cae Ras and we can't wait. We're grateful to our partners at the EFL and Sky Sports, the latter of which we hope is ready with the bleep button."

Wrexham currently sits in sixth place in the Championship table, holding on to one of the four playoff places. The Red Dragons have won anunprecedented three consecutive promotions since 2023and are looking to be one of the three teams from the division that will move up to the Premier League next season.

The Hollywood duo purchased Wrexham for $2.5 million in 2020. Since they acquired the club, it has drawn international recognition — thanks in part to the "Welcome to Wrexham" documentary series the two have produced on FX.

Christina Applegate reveals she had an abortion at 19 amid abusive relationship

Christina Applegatehas rarely let difficulty keep her from sharing her truth, as she proves while opening up about an abusive relationship in her teens that led to her getting an abortion at 19.

Inher new memoirYou With the Sad Eyes, published Tuesday, theMarried…With Childrenactress reflects on the long-term relationship with an abusive boyfriend that began in her late teens. It was with this unnamed beau that Applegate, now 54, found out that she was pregnant in 1991, and eventually chose to have an abortion.

"In late April 1991, I fell pregnant. I want to turn away from what happened, but it's all recorded in my diary," Applegate writes in the memoir delving into her tumultuous life prior to stardom. "There are moments in my life that are too painful to force into narrative or meaning, so I'll let my voice from back then speak."

In the excerpts from Applegate's old journals, she laments discovering that she was "6 1/2 weeks pregnant."

"Two days before I found out, I got into a car accident on the way to the gynecologist. My car didn't survive, but luckily, I did," a young Applegate wrote. "I knew I was pregnant. I couldn't understand why even though I was watching my eating I still felt fat. I couldn't understand why sex made me sick and I cried at the drop of a hat. Now I know. I always felt that if I ever got pregnant when I knew it was the wrong time, I wouldn't have any problem having an abortion. 'Oh, whatever, it isn't even a baby yet.' That's bulls---, this creature is incredible. It makes me feel whole, safe..."

It was her partner at the time that "opened" Applegate's eyes to why her situation was untenable. "My boyfriend said I was a disgusting, self-obsessed, eating-disordered fat pig today (not in so many words)," she reveals. "That opened my eyes a great deal...I don't really understand my relationship anymore. It isn't good. Sometimes I don't think it's worth it... I feel I have lost myself somewhere, and I can't find her for the life of me."

Applegate — who recalls watching her single mom, actress Nancy Priddy, struggle with a heroin addiction and a physically abusive boyfriendin the memoir as well— writes about her own experience with physical abuse at the hands of her unnamed boyfriend, at one point detailing an incident where she was almost certain he would kill her.

"When I look back, I realize something: he seemed to have gotten great enjoyment out of treating me like that," she writes. "He seemed to take pleasure in making me truly believe he was going to kill me. My all-consuming fear appeared to satisfy him. I felt like he could see the terror in my face, how his anger made my body useless. It's as if making me cry, making me feel terror, and my showing him that terror in my eyes had been enough for him. It seemed as though he had gained some power, as though that's what he liked."

It was with that in mind that Applegate made her decision to end her pregnancy. Things quickly took a turn "only days" after she confirmed that she was expecting, theDead to Mealum shares. Her younger self had self-committed to "killing my child" as she agonized over where she could go to "recuperate from murder..."

"His family will hate me when they find out that I killed their family member because they don't believe in it. But I can't have this baby because I have work to do to entertain this f---ing world. Besides, I can't... now," she writes.

In an entry dated June 13, 1991, Applegate reveals that "it's over," writing: "I feel pretty okay. Just kind of woozy. That gives me no time to realize what I have done. Which is most likely the best right now."

She continues, "I was looking over what I'd written yesterday and just have to laugh. My emotions were extremely warped (I really don't feel that way. Honestly, I think when you're pregnant you tend to feel that way about the male figure in your life). My life is pretty wild. I could seriously write a book. I guess this kind of is."

Years later, the actress welcomed daughter Sadie LeNoble with her musician husband Martyn LeNoble. During an appearance onJimmy Kimmel Livelast month, Applegate revealed that she actually shared her journals with the 15-year-old to show that she understands what she's going through as a teen.

"I let her go through that one because I was like, 'You're not unique in the sense of like -- just understand that your mom understands it, right?'" she told the host at the time. "'You know, that like you're hurting and I'm sorry, I'm going to say ... s--- happens, and it's awful.' I needed her to like see that her mom understood that it hurts."

Applegate, whorevealed in 2021that she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, previouslyalluded to her past strugglesduring a 2019 interview with NPR in which she rejected the notion that she's an unrelatable elite.

"My past is no different and also probably a lot darker than a lot of people's," she said at the time. "So I really do take offense when people think that I've had a silver spoon in my mouth and that I haven't seen the dark side of life."

"It's a little mysterious," Warriors coach Steve Kerr said before his team hosted the Los Angeles Clipper on Monday night. "We're obviously working with him and hoping that he can get some clarity and he can kind of break through and get to a point to where he's consistently healthy. But that's something that the medical staff is working hard on with him."

Porzingis had returned to practice Friday and was listed as questionable for Saturday's home loss to the Lakers, then missed his fifth straight game Monday with an illness. It's unclear if he will travel for the team's upcoming three-game road trip.

Kerr said he spoke with Porzingis earlier Monday.

"We had a good chat. He's doing fine," Kerr said. "He's obviously wanting to be back and wanting answers and we'll keep supporting him."

The 7-foot-2 big man from Latvia made his Warriors debut Feb. 19 against his former Boston Celtics team after being acquired in a trade from Atlanta, but hasn't played since. He has appeared in just 18 games overall this season, averaging 16.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists.

Is Miami Ohio in March Madness if it loses MAC? Case for, against RedHawks' at-large chances

The last undefeated team inmen's college basketballis at the center of theNCAA Tournamentdebate.

USA TODAY Sports

No. 20 Miami (Ohio)remains perfect going into the final week of the regular season, at 29-0 with two games left before the MAC tournament.

And while their record indicates the RedHawks should be a shoo-in for March Madness, that may not be the case. And there's no certainty Miami wins the MAC's automatic bid either.

'Flat out wrong.'Miami Ohio AD fires back at Bruce Pearl over March Madness bid

March Madness bracket:Teams rising, falling in projected NCAA field

TheRedHawkshave had plenty of close calls, and second-place Akron is no pushover. The Zips are 24-5 (15-1 in MAC), with their lone league loss to Miami by three points back on Jan. 3.

So what happens if Miami doesn't leave Cleveland with an automatic bid?

Miami's resume and season has perplexed the hoops world as it reignites the age-old postseason debate of best vs. deserving. The discussion intensified whenformer Auburn coach Bruce Pearl said the RedHawks aren't worthyof an at-large spot.

"If we're selecting the 68 best teams, then Miami (Ohio) is going to have to win their tournament to qualify as a champion, because as an at-large, they are not one of the best teams in the country, and that's going to be a difficult choice for the committee," he said.

Miami (OH) RedHawks forward Antwone Woolfolk (13) reacts with teammate forward Brant Byers (22) during a stop in play against the Ohio Bobcats in the second half at Millett Hall.

Miami's athletic director David Sayler wasn't too impressed with Pearl's analysis, firing back on Monday via social media.

"(You) are flat out wrong about (Miami Ohio basketball) when (you) say we would finish last in the Big East," Sayler posted. "The disrespect is awful and (you) should not be near a TV studio covering this sport when (you) show your true colors! Even slipped in a 'we' when talking aboutAuburn, nice work!"

There are several reasons Miami should and shouldn't be in the NCAA Tournament. Of course, it can make all of this moot by heading into Selection Sunday if it still hasn't lost. But let's breakdown the RedHawks' at-large case, just in case.

Why Miami Ohio should be in NCAA Tournament

To start, it's March and they are the only one of 365 teams that haven't lost. Miami (Ohio) is just the fourth team in the 21st century — Wichita State (2014), Kentucky (2015) and Gonzaga (2021) — to enter March undefeated. The 29 wins are the most in Division I.

The RedHawks have the best shooting percentage at 52.7% and are eighth in 3-point percentage at 39.2%. They average 90.9 points per game, second in the country behind Alabama, an win by an average of 17 points a game, a margin that's seventh-best in Division I.

Some models back the success. Thestrength of recordis 21st in the country, and inthe RPI, the old model used to select NCAA Tournament teams before the NET rankings, the RedHawks are No. 28.

History certainly favors Miami. No team with more than 28 wins has ever missed out on March Madness since it expanded in 1985, and the NCAA Tournament selection committee never left out a team with less than four losses. Even if the RedHawks lost the remainder of their games, they'd only have three defeats.

Why Miami Ohio shouldn't be in NCAA Tournament

It's the quality of resume the tournament selection primarily uses that doesn't work in Miami's favor.

While undefeated, the RedHawks are ranked No. 52 in the NET rankings, high for an at-large team. It's still possible, as San Diego State was that exact ranking when it made the First Four last season.

A deeper look reveals Miami doesn't have any Quad 1 games, and just one Quad 2 victory. A majority of the wins are Quad 4 with a 16-0 record that doesn't include the three victories against non-Division I teams. It doesn't help at the moment, it will not get a chance to earn a Quad 1 win by the end of the MAC title game.

The lack of quality opponents really hurts other metrics. The strength of schedule ranks 256th and Miami has a KenPom rating of 87, surrounded by teams that are virtually out of the running for an at-large spot. In KenPom, the RedHawks have a strength of schedule ranking of 285th, and a the nonconference rating is sixth-worst in Division I.

All of the variables make for one of the most polarizing bubble contenders in recent memory. Miami deserves credit for playing its schedule perfectly and should be rewarded for the amount of wins, yet it's understandable to see why there's a chance they can end up being left out of the tournament — no matter how unfair it is.
